You may apply for Canadian immigration and become a permanent resident of the country by being sponsored by a close family member. The sponsoring family member must agree to support you and your dependents for a period of ten (10) years following your landing in Canada.

A Canadian citizen of permanent resident may sponsor the following persons :

• Spouse, parent, grandparent, fiancé(e), dependent children (including adopted children) or children under 19 whom the sponsor intends to adopt.
• Additionally, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, or grandchildren who are orphans unmarried and under age 19 may also be sponsored. Lastly, any other relative of the sponsor is eligible if the sponsor has none of the above family members either in Canada or abroad.

Please note that a dependent child must be under the age of 19 and unmarried, a full-time student since the age of 19 and financially supported by the parents, or financially supported by the parents because of a disability.
