Investors must

• Have successfully operated, controlled or directed a business.
• Have a net worth, accumulated by their endeavors, of at least $800,000 CDN.
• Make a deposit of $400,000 CDN to the Receiver General for Canada for five years with no interest.

Financing is available to cover the $400,000 CDN investment in the form of a pre-approved $280,000 CDN loan.

A simpler and fully guaranteed federal Immigrant Investor Program (IIP) was introduced on April 1, 1999 for applicants wishing to live in any of the provinces or territories outside of the Province of Quebec (applicants wishing to live in the Province of Quebec must invest in Quebec's IIP).

Investors now pay their $400,000 CDN investments directly to the Receiver General for Canada. A Non-transferable Zero Interest Promissory Note -- fully guaranteed by participating provinces -- will be issued for subsequent repayment, without interest, five years and two months after the end of the month in which payment is received in Ottawa.
